“The Boys” by Girl’s Generation wasn’t too awful, but not too great either.
Cons:I liked the music video preview and graphics, but just couldn’t understand why they changed their style so dramatically. The are usually a cute group,so obviously a lot of SONES (SNSD Fanclub) will be confused about this song. I liked it as a song, but for a more tough band, like 2NE1 or Miss A. It was too conceited. It was too much like music being put out by every other artist in the music business. I guess it was a good song if they want too debut in English speaking countries like the U.S or Canada even. But,that song is COMPLETELY wrong for Korea.
Pros: This song earned GG a new reputation. They are now (FINALLY) viewed as grown women rather than the young adults (or even teenagers) they are viewed as in their music videos like “Gee” and “Oh”. They got a chance to sing in English and earn even more fans than they have already (WHICH IS A LOT. The current view count for “Gee” is over 55 million…Let’s just say Sones are crazy).
As an average American,I like this music video a lot. The song has catchy lyrics, the sets are SHINY and complex, and the girls are pretty and skinny. I like the facts that the intro is over 1 minute long, and the music video is extremely confusing, considering the fact that if it wasn’t long and confusing,I might not have sat around waiting for the next thing that was going to happen in this music video.
Also,I would like to say that I am SO digging Taeyeon and Sunny’s new hairstyles. They are so cute!
